FAQ       1. Military Retirement Calculator - Compare military retirement pay against different retirement dates and ranks, estimate future pay for 40 years after retirement
and automatically calculates early retirement pay if you enter a retirement date that is less than 20 years of service.

    2. Automatically calculates for High-3 or Final Pay depending on the date entered service - High-3 is for those who entered on or after September 8, 1980.
High-3 is the average base payover the last 36 months of service.

    3. How accurate are your formulas? Approximately 99.8% accurate for final military retirement pay. Future pay is estimated. Our program runs many calculations
and we update the calculator as new policies, proposed pay raises, and pay charts are released.

    4. Future Pay Estimated? This lets you know how much you can expect to earn during your military retirement years. Increases are based on official projected and
historic COLA rates and then I use my projected COLA rates. Formulas also include estimated REDUX re-computation at age 62 for those
who took the REDUX, CSB or Choice option.

    5. What will my military retirement pay be? Enter your dates and rank. Calculator will display final retire pay plus estimated future pay.

    6. Advanced Calculator? The advanced military retirement pay calculator has additional options such as comparing different retirement grades against
different retirement dates. It also has an option for those who had a break in service to enter their date of separation and return to active duty date.

    7. Final Retirement Pay is higher than my bank deposit? Final Retirement Pay and Estimated Future Pay are payments (gross) before deductions such as taxes,
insurance premiums (VGLI), medical insurance, survivors benefit plan premiums and allotments. Your gross pay and the amount deposited into your
bank account can differ significantly depending on your monthly deductions.

    8. Who are you? My name is Mike. I retired from the Air Force after 22 years.   :)

    9. Break in Service? This advanced option is for military members with period(s) of absence during their military career.
Some members separate from the service and then later return to active duty.

  10. Is the 1% COLA reduction in retirement pay until age 62 for those entering the service after January 1, 2014 included in your formulas?
Yes. In December 2013, a Congressional Budget Deal passed to reduce COLA by 1% for all retired military until age 62 but then ammended the
budget deal in February 2014 to grandfather active and retired military. A 1% COLA reduction only affects those entering the service after January 1, 2014.

  11. Are you going to post other calculators? Yes. Voluntary Separation Pay (VSP) will be included in my next release. Reserve retirement pay calculator and
VA disablility pay are in a near future release.

  12. Does your calculator also calculate early retirements? Yes. If you enter a retirement date that is less than 20 years of service, it automatically calculates
as an early retirement using all current rules for early military retirement.
